How is the information about my child's needs and strategies for best practice communicated to teachers?

All students who are in the SEN register will have a One Page Profile. This will provide all staff with information to support and inform teaching in the classroom.

My child finds it difficult to manage unstructured time, social situations and noise such as break and lunch times, are there activities in place/classrooms open with staff supervision for them to go?

The Bridge is a safe space that can be accessed during these.

How does the school handle communicating unexpected changes to routine – what notice is given for changes, e.g. staffing, room changes, school trips?

Where possible we inform students and parents well in advance of any changes that may be happening. If this is not possible for example if a member of staff is ill, we will support students in those changes at that time to reduce anxiety

My child had a Support Me to Learn Plan or a My Support Plan in primary school - will these carry on and will parents be involved?

All my support plans will be reviewed when students start with us. We will of course always make sure that parents/carers are involved in any reviews that are conducted. As a parent/carer you play a crucial role in supporting your child and it is vital we work in partnership

My child is used to working with the same TA will this happen in secondary school

In secondary part of our job is prepare to students for adulthood which includes working with different people. This means that TAs are rotated. This also allows students to build relationships with a number of different staff

Will my child get 121 support in every lesson?

Unless it is specifically written in a child EHCP we do not give 121 support for students in every lesson. Also it is useful to remember that there is not a TA in every lesson like what there is in primary school

I have concerns about my child how do i get help?

Always contact school if you have any concerns. This can be via email or a phone call. Depending on your concern you will be put in touch with the best person or team that can help you out

I think that my child has additional learning needs. How can you help?

If you have concerns about your child contact school and ask to speak to the inclusion manager or the SENCO. We will look at your child's academic data, speak to teachers and of course listen to your concerns. From there we can make a plan together to support your child where necessary

My child has a medical condition, how is this managed in school?

We will ask you to fill out a health care plan and discuss the details with a member of the inclusion team. We will put provision in place to support within the guidelines of the school policy. It should be noted that school can NOT give a student any medication that is not prescribed for example paracetamol. The school medical policy can be found on the school website
